A bit of an old school return this week:

Yes! A word origin! It was my father's birthday last week, so, for him, I did this strip related to his favorite game, golf. There's actually lots of fun stuff to mine in the relationship between Mary and golf-- one thing that indicted her in the eyes of the public was her forsaking the traditional mourning period to golf only a day or two after her husband's death.

Well, that and the fact that she likely murdered him.

I left the original French word suggested (the Queen shouts it in the 5th panel), and I like how that moves the reader back into the comic--drives the eye back up the page. Okay, maybe that's a stretch--all you have to do is look at the panel directly above, but it's still movement away from the left/right-top/down trajectory of the prose experience.
